The Hunters was a short-lived 1965 television series set on the Russian Front in 1947. It tells the story of a squadron of F-80 fighter pilots who became involved in a series of unlikely adventures. The show starred Robert Wagner, Richard Egan, Harry Morgan and Angie Dickinson. Although the first few episodes gained high ratings, it was abruptly cancelled midway through the filming of the seventh episode, allegedly due to high production costs. In 2012 it became known that a scandal involving the production company had been discovered and the show was shut down to absolve the network of any responsibility for said scandal.
The Hunters has become a cult show and was made into a well-received film that won a 1967 Oscar for its scriptwriting.
